Clinton, Fayyad meet
WASHINGTON (JTA) -- Hillary Rodham Clinton met with the Palestinian Authority prime minister in an effort to advance peace talks with Israel.
"I’m looking forward to our meeting and discussing the ways forward on economic and security and political progress, and I thank him very much for being here," the U.S. secretary of state said before her meeting Wednesday with Salam Fayyad.
Separately, Clinton's spokesman, Ian Kelly, praised Israel for removing one of the largest roadblocks in the West Bank, south of Nablus, part of its compliance with Obama administration requests to ease conditions for the Palestinians.
"We welcome these kinds of moves and other moves that help the freer movement of people, of Palestinians within the region," he said.
