PrintIsrael to allow Gaza aid despite rockets
JERUSALEM (JTA)—Israel planned to allow humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip despite continuing rocket attacks.
At least eight Kassam rockets struck in the western Negev Monday. No one was injured but several homes on a kibbutz in the Eshkol Regional Council sustained damage, according to Ynet.
Ha’aretz reported that Israel allowed a limited amount of humanitarian aid into Gaza, citing Palestinian and United Nations officials. Other media reports said that the aid was delayed.
The United Nations said it ran out of food for distribution to about 750,000 Palestinians over the weekend.
The aid was to be allowed into the securely blockaded strip in advance of a meeting planned for Monday in Jerusalem between lame-duck Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the attacks.
