Holy Land trial goes to jury
WASHINGTON (JTA)—The retrial of a Muslim charity accused of funding terrorism has gone to the jury.
Deliberations were set to begin Wednesday in a Dallas federal court in the second trial of the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development. The group is accused of funneling $12 million to Palestinian schools and charities controlled by Hamas. The defendants argue that the charity was doing humanitarian work.
Last year’s first trial ended with no convictions and a mistrial on most of the charges.
