PrintEmanuel accepts chief of staff job
U.S. Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-Ill.) reportedly has signed on to be the next White House chief of staff.
Multiple reports Thursday said Rahm, the son of an Israeli father, accepted President-elect Barack Obama’s offer to be his most senior adviser.
Emanuel, 48, earned a reputation for fierce political skills as a political adviser to President Clinton.
Elected to Congress in 2002, Emanuel was the architect of the Democrats’ resumption of power in Congress in 2006. He was rewarded with the fourth-ranking Democratic position in the U.S. House of Representatives, chairman of the party caucus.
