Comptroller criticizes Olmert

Israel’s state comptroller criticized Ehud Olmert’s involvement in a tourism project.

Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss’ report released Wednesday said the prime minister, while serving as industry, trade and labor minister, inappropriately pressured the state’s investment center to approve aid to the Aquaria recreation park, north of Eilat.

The project was approved in August 2007, and the government agreed to help fund it with an allocation of about $8.5 million.

The project, a 321-acre amusement and recreation park, still has not been built.
