Chicago synagogue robbed

An Orthodox synagogue in Chicago was robbed, its rabbi said.Philip Lefkowitz said a burglar entered the Agudas Achim building last Friday through a window and stole computers, audio-visual equipment and a large supply of food used for dinners and kiddushim."This is not just about Jews, it’s about all people,” Lefkowitz told JTA. “Who steals from a place of worship?"The synagogue is 120 years old, has a 2,000-seat sanctuary and is noted for its grand architecture. Some time ago an 85-year-old candelabra was stolen. Also, vandals once covered the religious school with anti-Semitic and racist graffiti.Lefkowitz called upon federations to focus more on providing real solutions to temples that need better security rather than sending pamphlets with devices he says his temple cannot afford.
