Bill Clinton honored by AJWS

Bill Clinton delivered the keynote address at an American Jewish World Service benefit dinner. Speaking Wednesday in New York, the former president, whose foundation has been active on health and other issues in the developing world, praised AJWS’s work and called for greater focus on what unites seemingly diverse peoples.Clinton also noted that the growth of non-governmental organizations, private wealth, and the Internet placed enormous potential to do good in the hands of private citizens. “Never before in history have people had as much opportunity to have an impact as they do now,” Clinton said.The dinner also honored Ann Curry, an NBC journalist who has reported from Darfur, Sudan, and Glen “Mama G” Mabuza, an HIV/AIDS activist from South Africa.
