Wiesel: I’d shed no tears if Ahmadinejad killed
JERUSALEM (JTA) -- Elie Wiesel said he would not cry if the "pathologically sick" Iranian president was assassinated.
The Nobel Peace Prize laureate collected the signatures of more than 50 Nobel laureates from around the world, including a Muslim, on an ad denouncing Mahmoud Ahmadinejad that already has been published as a full-page ad this week in The New York Times.
"We're sure that the president of Iran, the world's No. 1 Holocaust denier, plans to destroy and annihilate the Jewish state, and bring disaster to the entire world," Wiesel told Israel's Army Radio on Tuesday.
"I wouldn't cry if I heard that Ahmadinejad was assassinated," he added.
The petition warns of the danger of Iran's nuclear program.
