Jewish Heart for Africa
http://www.jhasol.org Jewish Heart for Africa brings sustainable Israeli technologies to rural African villages via its first initiative, Project Sol. The initiative aims to promote development in Africa through the use of clean, alternative energy in order to fight climate change and provide for sustainable economic development, while also improving the overall health and lifestyle of the African rural community. Israel is a leader in the alternative energy and agricultural industries, and has perfected the art of agriculture in an arid climate -- making Israeli know-how ideally suited aiding African villages that face similar climate conditions. The oganization's goal is to work with Israeli companies in order to stimulate growth within the Israeli economy and to foster a mutually beneficial partnership between Jewish Diaspora communities, Israel and the African continent. Project Sol is currently operating in Tanzania, Ethiopia, and Uganda, providing electricity for basic needs such as refrigeration of essential medicines and vaccines. With the launch of Project Agro in 2009, the organization will soon be providing villages with Israeli agricultural drip technology, allowing villagers to grow surplus crops to prevent food shortages and to provide a source of income to foster economic development.
