Bialik High School Green Team
http://www.jppsbialik.ca/en/newsletter/november2 (Note: Judges and JTA Staff were so impressed with the Bialik High School Green Team’s enthusiasm, that we wanted them to be recognized.) While it is a fact that recycling bins have been the norm around Montreal’s Bialik High School dating back over a decade, it has become apparent to all that the environmental culture at Bialik still left much to be desired -- that is, until this school year. Over the past five months, Bialik High School (and her sister elementary school, Jewish People’s and Peretz Schools) has undergone a radical “green” transformation that has positioned it as a true environmental leader, not only in the local Jewish community but also among all schools in and around the Island of Montreal. Check out the Green Team’s PowerPoint presentation, which proudly lists the school's accomplishments to date. Green Team members are just getting started, and are committed to conferring the value of preserving our precious environment on many future generations. A PDF outlining the school's green initiative is here.
