(JTA) — Iranian President Hassan Rouhani reportedly donated $400,000 to the Jewish hospital in Tehran.
The New York Times bureau chief in Tehran, Thomas Erdbrink, tweeted the news Thursday, citing the semi-official Mehr news service. At the same time, the official IRNA news agency reported Rouhani donated $170,000 to the hospital, reportedly as part of an effort on his part to pay attention to the country’s minorities, according to The Associated Press.
There are about 25,000 Jews in Iran.
