JERUSALEM (JTA) — The tires of as many as 10 cars were punctured in Beit Safafa, an Arab neighborhood of eastern Jerusalem.

In addition to the damage to the cars, which also included pulling out the license plates, the words “price tag” and “revenge” were sprayed on nearby walls.

Police have launched an investigation into Tuesday’s vandalism.

Price tag refers to the strategy that extremist settlers and their supporters have adopted to exact retribution for settlement freezes and demolitions or Palestinian attacks on Jews.

Under an Israeli measure that began in July, Jewish perpetrators of price tag attacks would face the same legal repercussions as Palestinian terrorists.
