A B’nai B’rith delegation urged Franz Cardinal Koenig, the Archbishop of Vienna, today to prepare a publication for general circulation which would “comment understandably for everybody” on the declaration of the Ecumenical Council on Catholic relations with Jews. The delegation was headed by B’nai B’rith international president William Wexler of Savannah, Ga.
The declaration of the Ecumenical Council repudiates the charge of decide against the Jewish people in the death of Jesus, warns against anti-Semitism and calls for “fraternal dialogue” between Catholics and Jews. It was formally promulgated as Catholic doctrine by Pope Paul VI.
