America’s first Jewish-sponsored,free,non-sectarian mental health hospital was announced here. The National Mental Health Center will velarize the facilities of the Ex-Patients Sanatorium in Denver, which will continue its half-century old program of rehabilitation of sufferers of chest and chronic diseases, according to John Streltzer, Colorado State Representative and president of both institutions.
“A bold new approach to the care of mental patients will be taken in the National Mentis Health Center, said Rep. Streltzer.”Our institution, beginning as a pilot study will not have locked wards and rooms. There will be no fences, no restraints on patients, no wasteful and psychologically frightening and harmful ‘snake pits,”
