Dr. Liebmann Hersch, internationally prominent Swiss Jewish sociologist, who died here Thursday, was buried today. Funeral services were arranged by the World ORT Union, at whose headquarters the body lay in state until today. Long active in Jewish affairs, Professor Hersch, 73, was a member of the executive council of the World ORT Union and the International Jewish Socialist Labor Bund.
Born in Szawle, Lithuania, Professor Hersch, who received his doctorate at the University of Geneva, has served as Professor of statistics and demography at that University since 1915. A well-known Yiddish writer, he recently visited the United States, he received an award for his literary accomplishments.
