Mayor Vincent R. Impellitteri, “in the name of the citizens of the City of New York,” today extended an official City Hall welcome to 20-year-old Michal Harel of Jerusalem, the “Miss Israel” of 1952, and expressed his wish that her forthcoming two-month American tour on behalf of the United Jewish Appeal would help raise “many more millions of dollars for early transmittal” to the Jewish State.
“Israel’s present struggle to establish a home for the homeless, haven for the oppressed and an outpost of democracy in a critical part of the world merits the wholehearted support of all New Yorkers and all Americans,” the Mayor said.
