The Palestine Hapoel Soccer team today defeated a local all-star aggregation 2-0 in a fiercely fought game before the largest American audience ever to witness a soccer match. According to the official figures, 55,237 persons saw the contest at Yankee Stadium.
The Hapoel goals were scored by Itzhak Fried and Herbert Meitner. Fried and Hapoel’s 18-year-old goalie Jacob Chodorov starred for the Palestinians. The spectators stood in silence for one minute in memory of the 6,000,000 Jews murdered in Europe.
