THE AUTHORITIES, MEANWHILE, APPLIED NEW RIGOROUS MEASURES TO SUPPRESS ARAB TERRORISM, DISPATCHING 3,000 BRITISH TROOPS TO THE BRIGAND-INFESTED NABLUS AREA TO CONDUCT INTENSIVE SEARCHES FOR ARAB BANDS BELIEVED TO BE CONCENTRATED THERE.
CURFEW WAS INVOKED IN LYDDA, SCENE OF THE RECENT DISASTROUS AIRPORT FIRE, AND TWO ARAB HOUSES WERE DYNAMITED AS PUNISHMENT FOR AN ATTACK ON A POLICE CAR IN WHICH SHAUFIK ABDUL HADI, ARAB POLICE OFFICER, WAS SLIGHTLY WOUNDED.
JACOB WEISS, GERMAN MANAGER OF THE CENTRAL LOAN BANK IN THE GERMAN COLONY ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF JERUSALEM, WAS STABBED THIS MORNING BY AN ARAB CLIENT FOR WHOM HE WAS MAKING CHANGE. AN EGGED COMPANY (JEWISH-OWNED) BUS WAS SHOT AT ON THE JERUSALEM TEL AVIV ROAD. NO CASUALTIES WERE REPORTED.
