SIR ALBERT LEVY, TOBACCO MAGNATE AND PHILANTHROPIST DIED SUNDAY AT THE AGE OF 74. FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD TODAY AT GOLDERS GREEN JEWISH CEMETERY. SIR ALBERT DONATED TO HOSPITALS A TOTAL OF £250,000 (ABOUT $1,250,000) AND FOUNDED THE ALBERT LEVY BENEVOLENT FUND IN 1929 WITH A DEED SETTLEMENT PROVIDING THAT CAPITAL AND INTEREST BE DISTRIBUTED IN 25 YEARS IN INSTALLMENTS. HE DISTRIBUTED OVER £18,000 TO 120 INSTITUTIONS.
