American Consul General Douglas Jenkins today cabled the State Department he does not consider the case of Boris Smolar, chief European correspondent of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, closed until the deportation order against him has been cancelled. The order was indefinitely postponed by the Gestapo, German secret police, yesterday following Mr. Jenkins’ intervention. Mr. Jenkins informed the State Department he will press the matter to a decision within two days.
