The Melchett medal, for 1932, named after the late Lord Melchett, British industrialist and Jewish leader and philanthropist was awarded last night to Charles M. Schwab, American steel industrialist.

The award was presented Mr. Schwab at the annual dinner of the Institute of Fuel.

Rabbi Emil Friedman, of New York, has accepted a call to become spiritual leader and teacher of Congregation Beth Shalom at Frederick, Md.
