The anti-Hungarian riots which broke out in Oradia Mare on the occasion of the Roumanian Students Congress, attended by Alexander Cuza, were accompanied by severe anti-Jewish riots resulting in two casualties.

With the cry “Kill the Hungarians and the Jews,” the students attacked passersby with knives. Two Jews, Sonnenfeld and Waiszlowitsch, were knifed. Both died from the wounds.

The home of Chief Rabbi Leopold Kecskemeti was totally destroyed. The Rabbi was absent at the time.
